This insurance is provided by M.J.O’Neill (Insurances) Limited t/a Yachtsman euromarine which is registered in the Republic of Ireland. M.J.O’Neill (Insurances) Limited t/a Yachtsman euromarine is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland C9880

The following summary does not contain the full terms and conditions of the contract which can be found in your policy document. The agreed sums insured are specified in your policy schedule.

What is this type of insurance?

Cover for your boat, its equipment, launching trolley and trailers.

This is not an agreed value policy but is based on the actual market value of the vessel, up to a maximum of the sum insured. Agreed value policies can be arranged upon request and receipt of a current professional valuation at Underwriters' discretion.

Insured

What is insured?

  • Accidental damage or loss due to fire, explosions, collisions, stranding, grounding, third party acts, heavy weather
  • Latent defects not discoverable by the exercise of reasonable care when properly maintained and serviced
  • Theft of your craft, tender or trailer
  • Payment of insured value for constructive total loss
  • Your personal property when on-board or used in connection with the craft up to €500 or such amount as shown in the Certificate of Insurance.
  • Third party liability arising out of use of your craft
Not Insured

What is NOT insured?

  • Damage or loss caused by a lack of general maintenance, wear and tear or depreciation
  • The cost of rectifying faults in design or construction or items suffering from a latent defect
  • Damage or loss as a result of war, civil disturbance or terrorism
  • Damage or loss caused by insects, marine borers, marine growth and molluscs
  • When left unattended on a trailer unless properly secured
  • Fishing gear, diving gear, cash, credit cards, jewellery or mobile phones or other personal digital equipment
Restrictions Cover

Are there any restrictions to cover?

  • You cannot use your craft for commercial purposes unless by prior agreement
  • Your cover may be affected if your craft is not laid up securely.
  • You cannot use your craft to tow another craft unless in an emergency
  • Your sails, spars and masts are not covered whilst racing unless otherwise agreed
  • Third party liability cover you, any permitted user of the craft and crew only in connection with operating the craft.
  • The maximum payment under the policy will be the insured value noted on the certificate of insurance

Where am I covered?

  • You are covered provided you are within your cruising area as defined on your certificate of insurance.
Obligations

What are my obligations?

  • You must take all reasonable steps to prevent loss, damage or an accident and keep your vessel in a good state of repair.
  • An insured Vessel under 17 feet length overall must be hauled ashore at all times when not in use or during the hours of sun set to sun rise.
  • Whilst the insured Vessel is underway the assured or other competent person must be onboard and in charge of the insured Vessel at all times.
  • Provide us with honest and accurate information and keep all your information up to date and accurate throughout the life of the policy
  • Meet the security requirements that apply to the policy
  • Tell us about any incidents, accidents or potential claims as soon as possible
  • Tell us if you sell or otherwise dispose of the craft.
  • Make the required payments of premium or premium instalments.
  • Tell us before making structural alterations to your craft
  • You must ensure that the minimum required number of crew are aboard when the craft is underway
  • The insured Vessel must be maintained and kept in a seaworthy condition and all mandatory safety requirements and manufacturer’s recommended practices as stated in the Owner’s Manual, shall be complied with.
Pay

When and how do I pay?

Your policy will normally run for 12 months. The start and end date of your insurance cover will be shown on your certificate of insurance. The policy is renewable each year.

Cover Start

When does the cover start and end?

You can pay your premium as a one-off annual payment by debit card, credit card. You may also be able to pay by monthly instalments by direct debit.

Cancel The Contract

How do I cancel the contract?

You may cancel your policy at any time by calling us, writing to us or emailing us. If you have not made a claim, we will refund your premium in full less an amount for the number of days which cover has been given. If it is greater than 14 days then we will also charge a cancellation fee.
